Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

Experience given @ Phillipines Memorial Talk on JW.Org
by smiddy3 inand i would like as many as possible to view it and comment on it as possible because i cant believe they are still pulling this shit and the rank & file are still lapping it up .?
in this year of 2020.. i`m sorry i do not have the nouse to make a link or attachment or whatever and hope someone can do so .. i know, i had doubts about looking at it also , its on jw.org ,whats new or something phillipines memorial and an experience was given their about a young pioneer girl that had eyesight problems and how she got her doctor and hundreds more to go on line to watch the special talk .
and they even went on to say they had 30,000 non jw`s log on to the special talk.?

I don't believe their statistics or their anecdotes anymore especially the ones from developing countries. Naturally the story was about a Doctor who coincidentally got "12" his friends to tune into the broadcast rather than being about the lowly person who empties the bed pans. Much more impressive that way.
If they were able to keep track of those who tuned in, it seems odd that they rounded the number off ( "over 31,000 attended") rather than giving the full number which would have been more impressive and would have been more credible.
Not buying it...I'll bet the Mormons have the same story.

by Simon insome light entertainment ... there are apparently 39 beatles songs hidden in the picture, but depending on how to interpret some of them you may come up with more.. please post one each, to give everyone a go, and describe where the song is in the picture (so it's not just coming up with a list of beatles songs).
also, check for existing answers - i'll post summaries to show the ones already identified.. .

Does prophesy negate free will?
by Tim207 innot sure if this is in the right subject but here it goes.
i’ve asked this question to a few elders and bethelites but they don’t seem to understand or like the question.
to start off we have to agree that jehovah is all powerful.

Does Prophecy Negate Free Will?
Other than Jesus and Kind David, I don't recall there being any prophesies about individuals where they were in control of the outcome. It seems like the prophesies were more all encompassing of a time period or a nation or mankind in general.
Similar to what you're talking about is the question I always had in regard to the outcome of things foretold.
What would have happened if (500 eg) people would have listened to Noah, would there have been room on the Ark for them? If everyone living within the sound of Noah's voice would have listened, would God still have needed to flood the Earth and kill all the animals for some reason?
What if everyone listened to Jesus back in the day? Since it was prophesied that he had to die in order to "buy back" the life Adam lost for us, would he really still have had to die and would it have been a sacrificial death? If not, since he was perfect, would he still be alive today? If it was a foregone conclusion that Jesus had to die, why are we so sad about it?
What if the JW's today took out television Ads all over the world and millions upon millions of people became JW's. Would there still have to be a Great Tribulation? Would Armageddon still have to take place? Or since prophecy says it will happen, is it a foregone conclusion that mankind is doomed and there's no way out of it?
In this sense, it's seems mankind's freewill is negated.

People Are Drinking a Lot More When "Locked Up" in Their Homes
by RubaDub init was amusing the other evening on the local news to see the increase of drinking due likely to people having to basically stay at home.. the news crew went out on recycle day in a couple of areas during the week.
they showed the general neighborhoods (but not the specific houses).
the reporter walked down the street and looked into the recycle bins.

Of course they are...people are doing a lot more of everything at home. The news focused on drinking.
I happen to know that people are doing a lot more baking these days (learning to make breads, pizza, cakes, cookies). I'm sure they'd find a lot of bags of flour in the trash if they'd have looked.
My neighbors are off work and are doing some great things with their children. Others are putting in vegetable gardens for the first time. Lots of projects that needed to be done at home are getting completed.
But who wants to know about that? It isn't (gasp)..as naughty.

This thread is not about Covid-19
by Ultimate Axiom inevery single news item, on every single news channel, and the majority of threads on this site, for the past three weeks seem to be either directly or indirectly related to covid-19.
is nothing else happening in the world?
has putin stopped slaughtering syrian civilians?

Harvey Weinstein (and other celebrities/politicians who are up to no good), are probably glad to have the media focused on Covid19 rather than on them.

G.B of JW`s trusting in Jehovah ? or Trusting in Men When It Comes To A Crunch !
by smiddy3 injehovah`s witnesses have taken it upon themselves that they have been chosen by god to be his witnesses in what they believe to be the last days ,the time of the end spoken of by the prophets of old.. they are on record as stating in their publications that it is their calling and duty to preach this message of announcing jehovah`s kingdom loud and clear publicly and from house to house even when under ban.. which they have done on many occasions in the past putting their trust in jehovah .. taking to heart acts ch.5 : 17- 32 which states in a nutshell ," we must obey god as ruler rather than men " .
they are also on record that the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one satan the devil to mislead all mankind.. this includes all governments ,religious leaders ,economic, and social systems ,they have even stated that the united nations was a counterfeit kingdom in opposition to the kingdom of god for the benefit of mankind.. so what do we see today ?
true , we have a pandemic with this covid-19 virus that is wreaking havoc in the worlds health systems causing death to many people on a scale not seen since the spanish flu pandemic a century ago.. now i`m just speaking from a jehovah`s witness mindset here,to put there money where their mouth is.

The Bible account of the ten plague's it's says he protected his people from any harm even if it upset the authorities and people of that time so his name would be known and he was all powerful. And Moses and Aaron lead his people in obedience to God's direction.
So why not today?JW's will tell you that this is because the Israelites were the chosen people God directly had dealings with and he directly brought the plagues upon Egypt as a punishment for not letting the Israelites go. They'll tell you that today's situation and others to come (wars, difficult weather patterns plagues etc) , are as a result of mans own actions such as greed, improper sanitation, overcrowding, polluting the earth, ruining the environment etc. They'll tell you that Jehovah knew that this would be the eventual outcome of mankind being led by Satan, JW's acknowledge that they too will be effected by these things and must do their part to protect themselves.
I understand that people on this forum have been adversely effected by the JW organization (I have too) but it seems like there are those who will fault them for EVERYTHING they do. If they don't meet together, they're accused of not trusting Jehovah....if they did meet together they'd be seen as delusional fools who are being irresponsible or only concerned about making sure they keep the donations coming in.
If the government tried to ban JW's outright, they'd surely resist (as they've done in other lands) . What's taking place today is not preventing them from worshiping. It's a temporary situation and they aren't being singled out.

It’s amazing how Jehovah is always in agreement with whatever the governing body decides. He even changes his mind at the same time as they do.

Further proof that the urgency of the message and the arrival of the new system being dependent upon it being spread throughout the earth, was never their real motive.
